Kyle Washington is off the board.
The 6-foot-9, 215-pound power forward from Brewster (N.H.) Academy committed to N.C. State Sunday morning during an official visit.
He also considered Ohio State, Washington and Iowa State.
?Yes, I did,? he told SNY.tv by phone. ?Just the coaching staff, a litle bit of new and old school. Larry Farmer, Coach Orlando [Early], Coach [Mark] Gottfried, all those guys are great.
?It?s an opportunity for me to come in and play and come in an make a difference on the team. And?me being able to be in a great conference. This conference [the ACC] is is going to be off the charts for the next few years.?
Washington will play the four at N.C. State beginning in 2013.
?I?m playing the face-up four,? he said. ?I?ll play the four down there and I?ll play on the elbow. I?ll do some wing things.
?They play through the system. They want their players to be versatile. I try to picture myself as versatile and work hard for that title every day. That?s one of the things that coach Gottfried wanted me to do.?
Brewster coach Jason?Smith recently raved about Washington to SNY.tv.
?He?s a lot better than people realize,? Smith said. ?We?ve been fortunate to have had some talented bigs over the years at Brewster. Kyle is right on par to where they are. He?s skilled in the post, he?s got excellent footwork.
?I think he can play really anywhere he wants. I?m excited to coach him. He?s been an excellent leader, vocal, positive, he works hard. He?ll definitely be one of our captains this year. He can play really anywhere he would like to.?
CLARK TO VIRGINIA TECH
Donte Clark, a 6-5, 175-pound point guard from Hargrave Military, pledged to Virginia Tech on Sunday.
?I felt like it was a good fit,? he told SNY.tv. ?They got a good coaching staff, pretty cool.?
Clark also considered Miami, Missouri, Oklahoma State and Ole Miss.
At 6-5, the Tech staff likes that he has the size to play point or two guard.
?I?ll probably be playing the point,? he said. ?I can play at a fast pace like I usually do, get my team going, score points if we need it and play good defense.?
