My Town: Treating Anxiety in Kids | FOX8.com ? Cleveland news ...

HUDSON, Ohio ? Dr. Christopher Flessner is hosting an informative program about treating anxiety in children.

?Treating Anxiety in Kids: How to Figure Out What Works? takes place Thursday, January 10 at 7 p.m. at the Hudson Library & Historical Society, located at 96 Library St. in Hudson.

Dr. Flessner will focus on different forms of treatment available to the families of children with anxieties. He will discuss some ways to help families sort through the many treatment options and will conclude with a more detailed description of cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) for children experiencing symptoms of anxiety or obsessive compulsive disorder.

Dr. Flessner is an assistant professor in the Department of Psychology at Kent State University and Director of the Child Anxiety Research (CARe) Program. He earned his doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and completed his clinical internship and postdoctoral training at Brown Medical School. He is a member of the Anxiety and Depression Association of America and the International Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder Foundation.
